Troubleshooting:
OFA Bars do not show up as a period type in the data series drop-down. VIDEO »
If you are experiencing this problem there are 2 solutions. (1) Close NT and restart. It is possible you missed this step in the installation process. (2) You have a conflict with an existing 3rd party (or free) indicator. Here is how to fix it:
- Close NinjaTrader
- Navigate to Documents > NinjaTrader 7 > bin > custom
- Open the text file NinjaTrader.OFA.setting.txt with Notepad
- Change the value from 9 to any other value (0-8) and save
- Open NinjaTrader and try again.
- You may need to try several values before you find an open slot
OFA Periods not showing up on chart… VIDEO »
Check to make sure you are using the comma (,) for decimal separators instead of the period (.). This can be changed in your control panel.
Control Panel > Clock, Language, Region > Change date, time or number formats > additional settings > Decimal symbol (change to .)
All I see is “Downloading historical data 1/01/0001…” VIDEO »
This message should only appear if you have the “Data Type” set to 1 for IQfeed. If you are not an IQfeed subscriber, change the setting to 2 (or 3 for FX). If you are an IQfeed subscriber, try loading a smaller amount of day (max of 7 during RTH).
“Waiting for tick…” VIDEO »
Broker data feeds like CQG, Continuum and Rithmic (as well as Kinetick) can only populate OFA if there is a live tick of data. If you see this screen the software is waiting for a live tick of data. This means the market needs to be moving – creating ticks. If you see this on a Saturday – expect to wait until Sunday night’s open!
